Capturing Moments - The wish of a mom

I know, I'm like moderate/severe delinquent in my blogging efforts. I am not going to try and catch up from my last post, to this post, because there simply aren't enough hours in the day as it is. However, I do want to take a moment to try and put into words the moments and emotions (some good, some not so good...) that I experience with this incredible person, and gift, that I get to call my son.

1. No doubt about it, the kid loves to put on a show. His instinct to make people laugh is amazing to me. The timing of his phrases, the look in his eyes, and expression in his voice definitely catchment off guard at least a few times a day. Most recent - body language (brief nudity involved), "actually mom...", "light bulb" - in Gru's voice,. He is a fun loving little boy, and a good friend to most everyone he encounters; full of joy and high-spirits...going to any length to make people laugh and love life.

2. He LOVES to play for hours on end with magna tiles, Rescue-Bots, play-doh, and Imaginext Castles. His imagination is endless, and his creativity is contagious. I love watching him think and explore each and every concept he encounters. The way he takes time to explain and teach anyone interested in learning more about what and why he is doing something reminds me of the power of patience. Goodness knows, one can never have enough reminders of this!

3. He is intuitive, caring, and purposeful. While his first reaction in uncomfortable situations is to make people laugh (not sure where he gets that from??) he instinctively knows when someone is upset or needs their spirits lifted. He is a good guy, with a huge heart, and cares about people...especially when they need it.

4. He enjoys school, well at least the social aspect of school :) The teacher in me wants to push the educational values more, however, I understand he has the 18-20 of his life to be in school...so for now, I try my best to keep it "fun".

5. He can't WAIT to be big. And fast. He talks about it every day. "I want to be big like daddy, I want to be in charge." Poor buddy, sadly for him he is a good bit smaller (and slower) than most every child around him (with the exception of his head, of course.) I try and boost his confidence in other ways and pray that the people he is surrounded with appreciate the size of his heart rather than the size of his physical self.

Would YOU have the heart to tell him he is..."not fast"?

6. Finally, the thing that I am most certain I can't put into words, and the thing I want to capture more than anything, is the sense of wonder that surrounds his spirit, his actions, his words. They literally leaving me craving for more and wishing, I had the ability to feel his heart, watch his mind, and experience his of life for just one day. But since that isn't possible...I will do my best do document these moments so that one day he will understand the complete awe that I feel every day that I am lucky enough to be his mommy.

Chasing bubbles and fire-flies...

Catching snow on his birthday, 11-12-13.

Filling my heart every single day I know him. The other day he asked me if I knew that he falls in love every day? I said, "well no, actually I did not know this. Can you tell me more??" He responded so politely in a matter of fact tone with, "yes you do, momma, because it's with you. Each and every day." I guess you are right, sweet love. I do know this and feel the exact same way!
