Blah Blog Update

We have had a busy week, nothing great or exciting but here's a post to keep you updated...

My poor Brodey boy had a yucky visit with the vet last Thursday. His hot spots weren’t going away, and he had green goop growing in his eyes so we decided it was time for the medical money snatcher’s advice. Turns out the poor Brod had an ear infection (they actually called it a ‘yeast infection’…but I prefer ‘ear infection’), puppy pink eye, and his blood work came back positive for heart worms =( Needless to say we were glad we decided to take him to the doc who prescribed a cortizone shot, ear prescription, eye prescription, and two intense treatments of heart worm medication. We are currently exploring a second option with the heart worm meds…keep your fingers crossed that it works otherwise the alternative requires Brodey to be ‘inactive’ for two whole months. If any of you have ever met Brodey, you understand this task is next to impossible.
One of my favorite pictures of my boys.

I am busily getting ready for school to start (tomorrow actually) and keeping up with grad classes. My new kids came to Open House today…13 girls and 4 boys…can you say fourth grade drama??? Yikes! I am a little nervous, but excited for the year to start. I’ll be doing the Inclusion classroom this year, along with a model literacy classroom for the district. It should be interesting.

Chap also started back to school this week AND he’s been tackling the gym every morning before work. I’m pretty impressed and hope to join him more once school starts and my schedule gets more normal. He’s pretty proud of his tomato plants we planted in the spring…just last week we picked off 35 tomatoes! I’m a little nervous that next year we will have the biggest redneck garden on the block!

I sure hope Brodey's treatments work. Poor doggie. I love the picture! Your class sounds like it's going to be a great year, those poor little guys, all outnumbered. And last but not least, Yeah for Chap going to the gym! I hope he can persevere. I'll be so excited when you guys finish all your "schoolin".

I forgot to add...I can't wait to tell Dad about the tomato plants..he's going to be so jealous! I always tell him they are Heather's plants, that makes it even better

sounds like you guys have been busy! i'm a little jealous of the tomato plants...with the rising cost of food, i wouldn't be opposed to a little redneck garden! :)

I can't wait to see you guys this weekend!!

1. Was Brodey not on heart worm preventative? (That reminds me o a little girl dog who didn't take her pill on Friday...crap.)
2. That dog has the biggest head.
3. I hope he gets better!
4. My neighbor has a pear tree, and the people around the block have tomatoes. Nothing wrong with a redneck garden--it's economical. I just have no green thumb, so I eat the fruits of other people's labor. ;-)
5. Good luck with those 4th graders--sounds like you're in for a treat!

Jenn,
That dog either has a big head, or Chap has a tiny chest.Just saying.

Awww, poor doggie:( I laughed at the very fitting title you gave the vet:) Thats EXACTLY how I feel about anything that has to do with health care!
Congrats on the tomatos! Tomatoes fresh from the garden are my favorite! I can eat them like apples. We've got zucchini and squash coming out of our ears this year.
You guys sound so busy with work and school. It is so cool that you only have 17 students in your class! Maybe we should move to SC just for the small class sizes:)

Marilyn~ shhh...it really is my garden but I have to let him think differently =)

Amber~ I will be sure to bring you plenty tomatoes this weekend! I can't wait to see ya'll! =)

Jenn~ We were giving him heartworm meds, however, the vet said it didn't sound like we were giving him the right dosage (he's a big dog!) He does have a silly big head...he does not always use it though!

Daniel~ Chap is huge.

Dionne~ My class size this year is awesome!! I am grateful our superintendent supports smaller pupil/teacher ratios...it makes a big difference! You want me to get your transfer request put in for S.C.??? =) I'd love that!!

Oh I hate to hear about Brodey! I hope he gets better! My parents have had the same problem with their dog and my brother. I remember that picture and that day! It was a good one!!! Good luck on the new school year!!! I love tomatoes....just sayin.......

oh I meant to put my brother's dog, my brother does not have heartworms.....that would be kind of weird :)

Yeah, I'm sure Matt would be thrilled;) "Um honey, by the way, I've transferred Lexi to the SC school district. I hope you can find a new job and fast b/c she starts in a week..."
It would be fun to live by you though:)

Oh poor doggie! :( Dogs are just about as expensive as kids. :)
Good luck w/ the start of school. I serioulsy can't imagine all that drama...I only have TWO girls and the drama in our house is sometimes unbearable! :) Those poor little boys! Or maybe lucky boys having all those girls to choose from. :) Or do "cooties" still exist in 4th grade?? :) I can't remember.
Greg would LOVE all those tomatoes!! He would be maing salsa every night.
