Sweet Six Months!

Really?? Six months already? I can’t believe how fast it goes! Why didn’t time fly like this when I was pregnant? I wish we could just pause this age though…at least for another six months, because right now is my favorite! His sweet personality is addictive!! He is such good baby that loves to laugh and smile and steal my heart every second. His most favorite thing to do right now is dance. That boy can shake it! Anytime music is on, someone is singing, or he sees someone else dancing, that boy will drop it like it’s hot. When he’s not dancing, he’s busy watching your feet…it’s like he’s making a mental note of everything people do so that once he can walk on his own, he can finally start his ‘to do’ list.

Growing with Grover: 6 months

Some fun new things I’ve learned recently from being Winn’s mommy:

1. I can make up a song about anything…poop, pee, gas, bottles, feet, carseats…you name it, I sing about it. I totally did NOT expect this from myself. I am rarely one that sings aloud for two reasons 1.) my voice is not pleasant and 2.) most of the time I don’t know the words. Winn doesn’t seem to mind much though, he’ll groove to just about anything. Right now he especially likes the song I created called, “Scrum-didily-umptious”. It’s a little number I made up about desert.

2. Males develop the ‘dramatic sick’ WAY earlier than I realized. Recently, Winn was sick with a virus. I know it wasn’t fun, I ended up getting it two days after he did, however, that boy milked it for every single penny he could. He was pit-i-ful! His favorite milking strategy is the fake cough. Granted, sometimes they are real hacky coughs, but you know it’s fake when he stops right in the middle and looks up at you smiling to see if you’re giving him the attention he’s looking for. M-A-L-E!!

3. Once babies can roll around, it’s a safe/sanitary idea to move the dirty diapers FAR away from them while changing. Yes, two times now we’ve come uncomfortably close to poop-in-mouth scenarios.

Wednesday, we had a little celebration to honor the 6 month milestone! Of course, I wouldn’t be a Gourley/Rollings if I didn’t a zillion pictures. Enjoy!

Playing on the plane rocker daddy got him. We miss you daddy-man!!
I will eat that little boy up!!!
His celebration desert - yummy banana-vanilla pudding...yummm!!
Reading his birthday card.
Enjoying his new sun hat and beach gear...look out Smith and Addison, we're coming to visit you SOON!
I still feel like I'm living in someone else's mommy world. I don't know how I got so lucky to be this little boy's mom.

Little Winn, you are the sweetest, most precious thing in my world. You fill me with joy every time I see you! I love your contagious grin, your silly giggle, your awesome dance moves, and how excited you get when I pick you up! You steal my heart when you squeeze my neck with your little arms and burry your face in my shoulder. I love you more every day and am so grateful that I get to take care of you!

Mother's Day, Regardless...

Well, not how I imagined I’d spend my first Mother’s Day…but who says being a mom is pretty?? We were supposed to be in Columbia with our BF’s this weekend celebrating with each other and our sweet babes. Instead, we’ve all seemed to catch this yucky virus that Winn developed last Wednesday…and still can’t seem to shake. My poor buddy has been doing breathing treatments and medicine for four days now and still doesn't seem to improve.

Even though this isn’t the ideal situation, I can’t be any more grateful for being a mother than I am today. Having a child to take care of, love unconditionally, and share so much joy with has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. I can’t say it enough; I am in LOVE with being a mom!!!

Thank you, Chap and Winston, for making me the luckiest mommy in the world. I love you both more than words can say…and I sure do hope we all feel better soon!!

These goobers make me laugh every day, SILLY!
When he's not sick, this is his new face. Love it!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the wonderful moms in the world, including Roxanne and Marilyn. I love you so much and am grateful for the example and love you provide for me and my family!!
