Snake Attack

I was attacked by a snake at school today. Ok, I’m not really sure if snakes can ‘attack’, but I feel extremely violated. It was awful!! Thank goodness my children were at music; because there is no excuse for the way I acted (I am terrified of snakes.) As soon as I walked out of my bathroom, there was a snake, plain as day sitting in front of my sink…as if someone purposefully put the snake there to scare me. Usually, our media specialist is really good at practical jokes this time of year with fake rats and spiders, etc. so I immediately assumed this was his doing. However, when I went to kick the snake, after snickering to myself, I quickly learned this was not the case! After the snake lunged at my food and quickly slithered across my shoe, I froze in shock and couldn’t move. Finally, I was able to scream for my teacher friend next door…who was really only good for yelling and jumping around the room, as if I wasn’t doing enough of that already.

Finally, after lots of commotion, four teachers, and a couple of cuss words, a second grade teacher came to save the day. He nonchalantly walked over, picked the snake up, and walked it to the computer so he could do some research. CRAZY!!

I just found learned that there is a hole in the ceiling of my bathroom, and that is most likely how the snake got in. This hole is right above the toilet!! So, I guess what I should be is grateful that THIS was not mine and Mr. Snake’s first meeting place.

AAAaaaahhhhh! You better get someone to plug that whole! What if it fell in the toilet and then lunged up to attack a kid as she was sitting down to take a pee??? I have a huge fear of snakes coming out of toilets. IDK why...

OMG!! I would have freaked! could you just imagine sitting on the potty and a snake falling on your head. that would be the worst day ever and probably give you a weird phobia about going to the bathroom!

Oh man, ya'll are making me nervous about going potty!! I know one thing is for sure, if I was sitting down and a snake fell on my head, the toilet is probably the best place for me to be!!

Heather,
This reminds me an awful lot of a story that happend to me a number of years ago at home. Its too long to post in the comments, but I'm definitely considering a blog entry about it!

I wasn't thinking about the snake falling on your head while sitting on the toilet, I was thinking of it already being in the toilet and sometimes you don't pay attention and just sit down, NOW that would be AWFUL!!!! I am not scared of snakes so much, but this would have flipped me out! Robbie wouldn't do that would he?? :)

Oh my gosh Heather! Though your story was making me laugh, it really isn't funny. I would have been terrified! I hate snakes too! I would have just ran out screaming. Thank goodness for male teachers. :)

Oh my. I have a great visual of this whole story. Especially of your snicker-kick at the thought of it being a joke and then realizing it wasn't. Too funny. But I'm glad it didn't get you.
I've seen a lot of toilet snakes though....in fact, I usually see one every day. Ewwwwwwww....haha! :-) .......too much?

OK, this freaked me out. I can stay out of a snake's way, but that is outside, not in a confined area. I was telling Mary Cline about it and I told her maybe you would have to use the boys' bathroom...she said no way..she would rather deal with a snake.

You guys, I had NO idea there were so many horrifying snake stories?! You all have me checkin twice before sitting now. Thanks.

Colly~ you dare me to post the real toilet snake pic? =)

Daniel~ I want to read your snake story!! You know I'll probably comment via e-mail since I am challenged when it comes to remembering passwords...

Marilyn~ Ha! Tell MC she's right, the boys bathroom in my classroom is NO fun! I think I am just going to have to work on expanding my bladder b/c I don't want to deal with snakes or boy yuckiness!

Ewww! I am sooo glad it didn't fall on your head! I would have gone nuts and probably would have wound up screaming down the hallways with my pants down! I got chills just reading this! I too am terrified of snakes! I get them in my garden and last summer I almost stepped on one and started screaming so loud and jumping around that a couple of my neighbors came out on their decks to see what was going on. So embarrassing!

OMG Heather! You tell the funniest stories I have ever read, but this one is also actually terrifying!! I can’t believe when it lunged at you it didn’t try to bite you – or did it, and just couldn’t get through your shoes and pants? Well let me tell you, if this happened to me this would be the end of me. They would have had to taken me to the hospital and hopefully I would have survived the heart attack!!! WHY is there a hole above the toilet? That doesn’t make sense at all that something like that hasn’t been fixed – especially today after something like this has happened. You know what to do if it’s not fixed!!
