After little convincing this morning I was finally able to talk Chap into getting our first REAL Christmas Tree! I didn't think he was too excited about it till I came downstairs to find him in his lumberjack hat singing 'Oh Christmas Tree'. Turns out that while I was getting ready he was exploring the world wide web for an actual Christmas Tree Farm (rather than the silly Christmas Tree stand I was going to try and buy from). Anyway, this farm turned out to be really neat! They had campfires, marshmellows roasting, and hayrides. It was my first experience picking out a real tree, and the fact that we got to cut it down ourselves made it tons of fun!
Brodey enjoyed himself also, while he was hunting for something, we doubt it was for the perfect Christmas Tree.
Here she is...isn't she a beaut?!

That looks like great fun--far better tradition-wise than me pulling my tree out of the attic tonight. I have just started the decorating process. Bonnie, though, thinks all the round ornaments are balls for her to play with, so she keeps trying to pluck them off the tree and throw them across the room. I'm going to have to move them all out of her reach. ;-)
Oh wow Jenn, that does sound like a challenge! I hope big sis is around to help you with that one! =)
Mostly, she just stares at her like, "What is wrong with that stupid puppy? I? Was never such a dummy!"
I love it! I just wish I could see him in the lumberjack hat. We used to cut our own tree, but not at a farm. Straight out of the woods, and one year Chap and friend cut one that had some sort of seed pods on it. So many of his friends heard about it, we had all kinds of kids showing up to look at our tree :-)
Marilyn~ He told me ALL about those stories when we were walking around looking for our tree...he has lots of vivid memories of going to cut down a Christmas Tree with his mom =) I thought that was so cool!
I will work on getting a visual of him in that hat...it was pretty hilarious =)
FUN!! We are boring and pull ours out of the attic every year. :) Not quite as fun as cutting down your own tree. I am weird and don't really love the smell of real trees (I know, I know what is wrong with me??) nor the mess that real trees bring. It's okay if you think I'm weird, Greg thinks I am too. :) He says one day we need to do a real tree "for the kids to have a real Christmas." So, we'll see. Happy decorating. Be sure to post pics of your beautifully decorated tree. :)
Congratulations on your first live Christmas Tree!!! It is Beautiful!! We'll have to come t your house to help decorate since we won't be doing it this year!!!
that looks like so much fun! i love the way a live tree smells!
Jamie~ That is so funny, this is my first year with one so I might be singing a different song once I start picking up those pine needles...but for now the smell is really yummy!
Mom~ You are welcome to come up...though the Christmas tree is almost decorated, I am sure I can find something for us to do! =)
The tree farm looks so much fun!!! Is it close to RH??? What a wonderful Christmas tradition!!!!
That looked like a great time! I didn't know there were places to cut down your own tree. How festive. It looks lovely. Once I convinced my Mom many years ago to get a real tree and she never looked back! Now, the funds are just not there for me for that sort of thing, so I pull mine out of storage.

How fun - a boy his dog and a tree - that really is a dream isn't it? haha
Your Christmas tree is absolutely beautiful!! You and Chap and Brody did a really good job picking it out! And I'm sure it will become a family traditionj. It has been in our family for 30-some years now. But I want you all the feel sorry for me because this is the first year in my whole life that we're not having a Christmas Tree! Since we're going to be gone to Tutu's decided not to put one up, but I kind of regret that decision now. It's kind of bare without the big old tree in the corner. But you and Chap enjoy yours. Show us pictures of it when it's decorated!
